Should I use sticky or rotating residential proxies for account creation?

I recently lost several sessions because my residential proxy was set to rotate the IP on every request.

During a multi-step registration, the IP changed from one location to another between pages, and the platform immediately flagged the session.

For legitimate account setup and testing, what is the better approach?

  • Keep the same residential IP sticky for the entire session?

  • Use a 30–60 minute sticky session?

  • Or use a static ISP proxy for login and multi-step workflows?

I’m mainly trying to understand which setup gives the most consistent session behavior.

For any workflow that needs a consistent login or multi-step session, keeping the same IP throughout the session is generally the safer technical setup.

A rotating proxy that changes IP on every request can create obvious inconsistencies. For example, one page request may come from California and the next from Texas only seconds later.

A better setup is usually:

Sticky residential proxy: Keep the same IP for the entire session, often 15–60 minutes depending on the provider.

Static ISP proxy: Better when you need the same IP for longer periods or repeated logins.

Per-request rotating proxy: Better suited to independent scraping requests where session continuity does not matter.

So the simple rule is:

Multi-step session or login → Sticky or static IP

Large-scale independent requests → Rotating IP

The important part is not just whether the proxy is residential or an ISP proxy. It ensures the IP behavior matches the type of session you are running and complies with the platform’s rules.
