A “proxy server not responding” error usually means your device can’t establish a connection with the proxy. In most cases, it’s caused by incorrect proxy settings, invalid credentials, a blocked IP, or a temporary issue with the proxy server.
Start by checking the proxy host, port, username, and password. If those are correct, test the proxy with an IP-check tool or another application to see if the problem is specific to your setup. Restarting your connection or switching to a different proxy endpoint can also help.
If you’re using free proxies, occasional outages are common. Premium providers like Bright Data, Oxylabs, Decodo (formerly Smartproxy), SOAX, and NetNut generally offer more reliable uptime and support.
If the proxy still doesn’t respond, contact your provider to confirm the server is online and your account is active.
